This is part of the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge located on the north end of Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It provides nesting, resting, and wintering habitat for migratory birds as well as habitat and protection for endangered and threatened species.
It also provides a nice look at barrier islands in an undeveloped condition. This view is looking toward the mainland.
